Archway Ships More Than 600 Million Gift Cards in 2011

Eighty percent of holiday shoppers will give gift cards this year

ROGERS, MINN. (December 14, 2011) – By the end of 2011, Archway, a leader in marketing fulfillment and the largest distributor of gift cards in North America, will ship half of all prepaid and universally accepted financial cards purchased in North America, more than 620 million cards, from its facilities in Rogers, Minn.

According to the National Retail Federation’s 2011 Holiday Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey, gift cards are the most requested gift this holiday season for the fifth consecutive year, with 58 percent of adults responding that they’d like to receive one, and 80 percent responding that they will give one. The survey also shares that consumers will load more money on cards this year than last year, in total, $27.8 billion. During the holiday season alone, Archway will ship nearly 110 million cards to consumers, businesses and 1,100 unique retailers.

“This year, Archway will have shipped 20 percent more cards than last year-- that’s a big reflection of their popularity,” said Archway’s President, Mike Moroz. “Gift cards are convenient for both the gift-giver and the recipient. You can purchase cards just about anywhere, from the grocery store to a specialty retailer, and even on your mobile phone.”
